First Things First: What Is an Iconic Online Presence?
Let’s bust a myth real quick.
An iconic online presence isn’t about fame, filters, or going viral on reels (unless that’s your thing—then I say go for it!). It’s not about being “everywhere” or having the perfect grid.
For me, it means:
-
Being recognisable for something that matters.
-
Being relatable so your audience feels seen.
-
Being real—authentically you, even when it’s messy.
It’s about building trust before you make a sale. Because if people don’t know who you are, they can’t work with you. Simple as that.
My Journey Started With One Blog Post
When life felt like it had fallen apart, I started writing. Just little stories—lessons about leadership, mindset, property management, and things I’d learned the hard way.
It wasn’t polished.
It wasn’t “strategic.”
But it was honest. And it resonated.
People started replying.
They said things like, “I needed to hear that today.”
That blog led to social posts… then to online courses… and eventually, to the podcast you’re reading this from now.
And that all began with one messy, imperfect step.
So, What Does It Actually Take to Build an Iconic Online Presence?
I’ve broken it down into five core steps. If you’re wondering where to start—start here:
1. Get Clear on Your Brand Message
Ask yourself:
If someone lands on your profile or website, they should instantly know how you can help them. Clarity is confidence—and confusion costs you clients.
2. Be Consistent in Showing Up
No, you don’t need to be online every single day. But you do need to show up regularly and with purpose.
Pick a schedule that works for you. Maybe it’s three posts a week. Maybe it’s a monthly newsletter. The key is: show up consistently so people know they can rely on you.
3. Create Content That Connects and Converts
Content isn’t just about marketing—it’s how you build relationships.
Think:
-
Educational: Share useful insights, tips, or lessons.
-
Aspirational: Show what’s possible for your audience.
-
Personal: Let people see the real human behind the brand.
People buy from people. Real ones. Not perfect ones.
4. Build a Strong Digital Home Base
Your website is your digital HQ.
It should be:
Tell your story. Add a real “About” page (not just your resume). Include calls to action. Make it easy for curious visitors to take the next step.
5. Bring the Energy and Authenticity
This is the magic. The secret sauce. The part no one else can replicate.
Your brand energy is YOU. Your vibe, your voice, your truth.
Be unapologetically yourself. That’s what will make people remember you.
Your Action Plan: Start Small, Start Now
If this feels overwhelming, don’t worry. I’ve got your back.
Here’s where to begin:
-
Audit your online presence: Is it clear? Is it consistent? Is it confident?
-
Pick two platforms: Choose where your ideal clients hang out—Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn.
-
Batch your content: Use tools like Canva, Later, ChatGPT or Copy.ai to save time.
-
Tell one story per week: It can be big or small. What matters is you’re connecting.
-
Track what’s working: Pay attention to what your audience responds to and build from there.
You Don’t Need to Be Perfect—Just Brave
Five years ago, I was scared and unsure.
Today, I lead an incredible team, speak to amazing people, and help business owners create calm out of chaos.
All of that started with one tiny, brave decision: to show up.
So if you’re waiting for the perfect logo, the perfect niche, or the perfect moment… please don’t.
There’s no “perfect.”
There’s only now.
You don’t have to be perfect to be powerful.
You just have to be brave enough to start.
